Wasabahawk is a multi-cultural band based in Freiburg, Germany, made up of 4 people from 2 different continents. Co-founding member Sebastian “Seba” Solar, Guitar and lead vocals, from Arica, Chile. Christian “Hongo” Gutierrez, Bass, from Talca, Chile. Nicolas “Nico” Garcia, Rhythm Guitar and back-up vocals, from Santiago, Chile, and co-founding member Brett Hansen, Drums and backup vocals, from Minnesota, USA.
The band started back in the fall of 2020 as a jam group of 3 people with a stoner/hard-rock feel. After a few bass player changes and experimenting with their music styles, they developed their punky alternative rock sound. They spent the year 2022 writing songs, with ambitions of recording and making their debut in the summer of 2023. In August 2023 they recorded their first EP at Liquid Studios in Freiburg and officially took on the name “WasabahawK”.
Their First EP, titled "Songs We Wrote Instead of Going To Therapy” was released on December 2nd,2023. The songs featured on the EP are political and critical, and take aim on topics such as War, Racism, Religion, and Sexism.
In the summer of 2024, WasabahawK recorded and released their first full-length album titled, “090224”. In November of 2024, Nico Garcia joined Wasabahawk as Rhythim guitarist, making the formerly 3-man band, a 4-man ensemble.
