Dr. Thusitha Gajanayake is a highly respected Veterinary Doctor with a PhD in Biological Science. He completed his Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVSc) degree at the University of Peradeniya in 2000 and furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Biochemistry at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland in 2005, followed by his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biology from the University of Bern, Switzerland in 2009. After completing his studies, Thusitha joined the Faculty of Science at the National University of Ireland as a Postdoctoral Scientist, where his exceptional teaching abilities greatly impacted the students. He later moved to Insel Hospital, University Hospital of Bern in 2010, to lead the hand transplant research group at the Department of Clinical Research. Furthermore, his innovation in local immunosuppression method using nanotechnology and hydrogel systems has earned international recognition as an outstanding research work. In recognition of his contributions, Thusitha was honored with the 2014 Swiss Transplant Research Award for Excellence in Transplantation. He has a wealth of teaching experience, spanning over 17 years, both locally and internationally, and has been an active member of various international and national professional associations. Additionally, Thusitha has demonstrated his proficiency in management within the pharmaceutical industry and was the first medical advisor in Sri Lanka for Novartis Pharmaceutical, a prominent global pharmaceutical company. Furthermore, he established the Institute of Colombo Professional Tutors (ICPT) with the aim of teaching London OL and AL and has successfully guided thousands of students over the past decade. His innovative teaching methods have been widely recognized by students and parents alike.
