Lucy Olsen (born May 26, 2003) is an American college basketball player for the Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big Ten Conference. She previously played at Villanova.
Early life and high school career
[edit]Olsen played high school basketball for Spring-Ford Area School District in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where she set the school record for career points and assists, and was named first-team all-state two times.[1]She was name the Miss Pennsylvania Basketball in 2021.[1][2]Olsen was also a member of her high school tennis team.[1]She was the PIAA state champion in tennis in fall of 2020.[1]
College career
[edit]Villanova
[edit]Olsen was named in the Big East All-Rookie Team in Her freshman season in Villanova.[3] In her sophomore year Olsen was named in the All-Big East Second-team.[1] Olsen also Earned first team All-Big 5 accolades in her sophomore season.
In her Junior season Olsen was ranked third in the country in scoring at 23.3 points per game.[4] Olsen was also named unanimous first team All-Big East selection.[5] Olsen was also voted the Big East Most Improved player.[6]She was also a Honorable Mention All-American honoree by both the WBCA and the Associated Press.
Iowa
[edit]On April 18, 2024, Olsen transferred to Iowa for the 2024–25 season.[7]
National team career
[edit]Olsen helped the USA U21 squad to first place at the 2023 FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League Final in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.[8] She won the gold medal with team USA in the 2023 FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League Final.[8]On July 5, 2024, she was selected to the USA U23 Nations League roster to compete at the 2024 FIBA 3x3 Nations League Americas Conference in Mexico City.[8]
