Part of Syrian and Lebanese cuisine

Kibbeh Labaniyyeh (Arabic: كبة باللبن), also known as Kibbeh bil Laban, is a traditional Levantine dish that consists of meat-filled bulgur wheat dumplings cooked in a tangy yogurt sauce. This dish is popular throughout the Levant and is a staple in Syrian and Lebanese cuisine, often served during family gatherings and festive occasions but also commonly eaten in Winter.

The dumplings, known as kibbeh, are made by combining finely ground bulgur wheat with minced meat, typically lamb or beef, and spices to form a dough. The dough is then shaped into torpedo-like shells and filled with a spiced meat mixture, onions, and sometimes pine nuts. Once formed, the kibbeh is simmered in a yogurt sauce made with strained yogurt, garlic, and a hint of dried mint or fresh herbs for added flavor.[1][2]

Kibbeh Labaniyyeh is typically served hot, accompanied by rice or eaten on its own as a hearty and flavorful main dish. Its creamy and tangy yogurt sauce balances the rich and spiced filling, making it a beloved comfort food in Syrian households and beyond. Variations of the dish exist throughout the Levant, with slight regional differences in ingredients and preparation methods.
