Karl Bozicevic was born in 1952 in Somerville, Massachusetts, to Andrew Bozicevic, who served as a captain on an Exxon super tanker.[6] He completed his high school education in Fort Lauderdale and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Tulane University in 1974.[7][8] Subsequently, he earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Shepard Broad College of Law at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in 1978, followed by a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property Law from George Washington University in 1985, where he was a student of Professor Irving Kayton.[9]

[edit]

Early in his career, Karl practiced patent law in Tokyo for 2 years and later worked for Lubrizol before joining Morrison & Foerster as a partner in 1990.[10][11] During his career, he has worked with both start-up companies and publicly traded corporations on intellectual property law.[12] From 1994 to 1997, he worked as a partner at Fish & Richardson P.C.[13][14] In 1997, he co-founded Bozicevic, Field & Francis LLP, where he has since served as a founding partner.[15][12]

Bozicevic has been admitted to practice law in several states, including Florida, Washington, D.C., Ohio, and California, as well as before the U.S. Patent Office.[16][17] His work has included developing patent portfolios related to transgenic animals, prion assay methodologies, fluid flow, and small particle formation technologies.[18] Additionally, Bozicevic was involved in the development of a patent portfolio for a protein therapeutic approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of patients at risk of vision loss.[19][20]
