"Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi" (lit.'Let's Not Go Home Yet') is a song recorded by the Filipino girl group Bini.

Composition and background

[edit]

Producer Jumbo de Leon drew inspiration from the 2018 romantic drama film The Hows of Us for the song, particularly a climactic scene in which the lead couple have an emotional argument in the rain.[1] In an interview, Del Rosario said that the sapphic undertones of the song were unintentional, adding, "The fact that other people see it as a queer love song just furthers the point that queer love and straight love aren't that different from each other." However, on X (also known as Twitter), Del Rosario supported a fan when they described it as a "sapphic anthem", lightheartedly claiming that "no heterosexual yearns like that".[2]

Rafael Bautista of Nylon Manila described "Umuwi" as a power ballad.[3]
