Guild Festival Theatre is a not-for-profit theatre company, based in Scarborough Ontario Canada. With a mandate to produce "classics reimagined"[1] for the stage, the theatre was founded by Sten Eirik and Robin Phillips in 2011.
History
[edit]From its founding in 2011, the theatre performs out of Guild Park and Gardens on an outdoor stage known as the Greek Theatre. It remains Scarborough's only professional theatre company. Since 2011, tens of thousands of patrons have attended plays, community programming, concerts, and other special events hosted by Guild Festival Theatre.
Sten Eirik was the artistic director from 2011 and remained in the role until his death in April of 2015. In 2015, Jamie Robinson took over as artistic director until 2017. In 2017, Helen Juvonen and Tyler J. Seguin were introduced as co-artistic directors.
Awards
[edit]Guild Festival Theatre has received and been nominated for many local awards including “Best Live Theatre” (Scarborough Mirror), 2017 OAC Premier’s Award for Excellence in the Arts (nomination), the Urban Hero Award (Metroland Media), the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Award, the King Charles III Coronation Medal, and two Dora Mavor Moore Awards.

- 2024 - Three Men on a Bike by Mark Brownell[18], a stage adapatation of Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men on the Bummel, featuring a returning cast of the 2023 production (Suchiththa Wickremesooriya, Jack Copland and Azeem Nathoo)[19]. Directed by Sue Miner.
- 2024 - Isle of Demons, by Robert Chafe, directed by Tyler J. Seguin,[20] a stage adaptation of the true story of Marguerite de la Rocque's abandonment on a remote island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence in 1542.
