The First Battle of Mount Pamaton was a fierce engangement between Banjarmasin forces against Dutch on Pamaton mountain. The battle resulted in Banjar victory and failure of Dutch.

Background

On June 1861, the Banjarmasin forces, under the command of Hidayatullah II of Banjar was in Mount Pamaton. The Dutch planned to attack Pamaton. After that, they countered the attack on Martapura by Hidayatullah and also captured the fort on Martapura who used by Banjar forces.

The Banjarmasin was come into pamanton mountain they welcomed by the native peoples on the mountain and planned to attacked Dutch but the plan was leaked to Dutch and the Dutch prepared to attack them in pamaton mountain.

The attack occured on the fort of pamanton and the Dutch have many soldiers and weapon to attack the fort but the attack was failed and many commander that killed or wounded and this attack resulted on losses of dutch and banjarmasin victory.
