Emerson Frank Greenman (born September 10, 1895 in Hartwellville, Michigan; died June 24, 1973 in Ann Arbor, Michigan) was an American archaeologist and scholar.[1]
Life
[edit]Greenman received an A.B. from the University of Michigan, a diploma in anthropology from Oxford University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan (1927).[2] Greenman also studied at the American School of Prehistoric Research in Europe. From 1928 to 1935, he served as Curator of Archaeology for the Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society.[3] From 1945 to 1965, Greenman was Curator of the Great Lakes Division of the Museum of Anthropology at the University of Michigan. He is known for work archaeological work around the Great Lakes, including at the Camp Killarney field school in Ontario, Canada.
