Career and Research

[edit]

Dr. Almeida has been intertwined with Biological Oceanography for over two decades.[1] She has been a lecturer at the Institute of Marine Engineering and Sciences (ISECMAR) within the Atlantic Technical University and is the Deputy Director of the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL).[2] The aims of the WASCAL initiative are to build capacity and research on Africa's Climate Resilience- further funding developments and encouraging wide-spread dissemination and education.[3] One key contribution is WASCAL's Waste-to-Energy (W2E) plant, which has cutting-edge technologies to generate energy from municipal waste.[4]
