Draft:Champagne Comte de Rougé
Champagne Comte de Rougé is a champagne brand founded in 2015 by Aymeric Count de Rougé d'Aligre in Janvry (Marne), about 10 km from Reims in the Montagne de Reims.
Coming from one of the oldest French noble houses, Aymeric de Rougé learned his interest in champagne from his mother's family. This is a Countess de Maigret, descendant of Marie Chandon de Briailles from the well-known Chandon dynasty (Moët & Chandon). Through this, the de Maigret family was very involved in the management and development of the then family-run champagne house.
The owner of the Château de Baronville near Paris, Count Aymeric de Rougé d'Aligre, who runs more than 1000 hectares of forest and agriculture there, and the Carrousel de Baronville event and seminar center, joined forces with the Ponsart winegrowing family from Janvry, to produce his own brand of champagne, a "classic champagne with family tradition".
The grape varieties Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier are grown. After vinification, the Comte de Rougé Champagne matures in the cellar for three to five years after the harvest and only then comes onto the market.
Various cuvées are produced, the most famous of which are:
• Cuvée Grande Réserve: 33% Pinot Meunier, 33% Pinot Noir and 34% Chardonnay
• Cuvée Rosé: 70% Pinot Meunier, 15% Pinot Noir white vinified, 15% Pinot Meunier red vinified
• Cuvée Tradition: 85% Pinot Meunier, 15% Pinot Noir.
