Andrew Scott (born 21 December 1967) is a British entrepreneur, investor, and business advisor. He is the founder and CEO of the Ascot Group, a conglomerate encompassing several companies in marketing, technology, media, and property sectors.
Early life and education
[edit]Scott was born in [Belfast]], Northern Ireland. During his childhood, he survived the Abercorn Restaurant bombing, which led to five years of recovery. His family endured further hardships, including his brother being injured in a car bomb attack and his father's death under unclear circumstances. At the age of 18, he moved to London, determined to overcome these challenges and build a successful career.
Career
[edit]Scott began his entrepreneurial journey at 19 with his first business. In 1998, he led the turnaround of a distressed manufacturing company, growing its annual revenue from £1 million to £12 million within four years. This success culminated in the company’s sale to U.S. Fortune 500 firm Masco Inc].
In 2004, he founded Purplex, initially as a business consultancy. Over two decades, Purplex grew into a global marketing agency and became a key part of the Ascot Group[1]. Today, the Ascot Group employs nearly 100 people and operates across marketing, technology, media, events, property, and private equity investing.
Scott's profile grew when he founded one of Britain’s leading media and events companies, Business Leader Magazine[2] , which connected over 100,000 UK entrepreneurs. In 2023, he sold the business[3] to Richard Harpin, the tycoon who built and sold Homeserve PLC for £4.1 billion.

Scott actively encourages aspiring entrepreneurs and has mentored over 1,000 small and medium business owners. He is also a regular key-note speaker on business and marketing.
In 2017 Scott was presented with the Institute of Directors (IoD) Award for Corporate Social Responsibility (South West region).
He has sat on the Board of Clifton Club private members club and is an Ambassador for Home Grown private club for entrepreneurs.
Personal life
[edit]Scott resides in Weston-super-Mare, UK. He is known for reacquiring and restoring his old BMW, a symbol of his early career struggles, which he now uses as a mentoring tool to inspire entrepreneurs by demonstrating that setbacks can lead to success.
