David Graham Forbes Chalk (born September 1959), is a British businessperson, who serves as Sheriff of the City of London for 2024/25.[1]

Background and education

Chalk was born at the London Hospital, where his parents did their medical training, and educated at Chigwell School and Radley College. He went to the University of Edinburgh.[2]

Career

Chalk's career was in the City in research and strategy at the Henley Centre for Forecasting, the advertising and marketing group WPP and the Future Foundation, a think tank based in the heart of Smithfield. He was a director of Age Concern Enterprises. He was elected as a director of The Homecare Association (UKHCA) in 2017[3].

David founded a Windrush Care[4], a care-in-the-home business with the aim of keeping older people out of care homes for as long as possible, and is currently a director and the Nominated Individual.[5]

David has been a governor of two of the Drapers Company's schools; Thomas Adams School, Wem in Shropshire and Howells School in Llandaff and served as Chair of the Thomas Howell Education Fund for North Wales.[6]

Livery

Chalk joined the Worshipful Company of Drapers in 1982, becoming a Liveryman in 1986. Elected to the court in 2008, he was Master in 2021-22.

He is a member of the Broad Street Ward Club and the City Livery Club.

Family

David Chalk is married to Miranda Chalk. He is the son of Philip Chalk.[7]
