David Graham Forbes Chalk (born September 1959), is a British businessperson, who serves as Sheriff of the City of London for 2024/25.[1]
Background and education
[edit]Chalk was born at the London Hospital, where his parents did their medical training, and educated at Chigwell School and Radley College. He went to the University of Edinburgh.[2]
Career
[edit]Chalk's career was in the City in research and strategy at the Henley Centre for Forecasting, the advertising and marketing group WPP and the Future Foundation, a think tank based in the heart of Smithfield. He was a director of Age Concern Enterprises. He was elected as a director of The Homecare Association (UKHCA) in 2017[3].
David founded a Windrush Care[4], a care-in-the-home business with the aim of keeping older people out of care homes for as long as possible, and is currently a director and the Nominated Individual.[5]
David has been a governor of two of the Drapers Company's schools; Thomas Adams School, Wem in Shropshire and Howells School in Llandaff and served as Chair of the Thomas Howell Education Fund for North Wales.[6]
Livery
[edit]Chalk joined the Worshipful Company of Drapers in 1982, becoming a Liveryman in 1986. Elected to the court in 2008, he was Master in 2021-22.
He is a member of the Broad Street Ward Club and the City Livery Club.
Family
[edit]David Chalk is married to Miranda Chalk. He is the son of Philip Chalk.[7]
