Civil Georgia (Georgian: სივილ ჯორჯია) is a Tbilisi-based free daily news website run by Georgian NGO UN Association of Georgia.

Creation and funding

Civil Georgia was founded in July 2001 and is trilingual in Georgian, English, and Russian.[1]

Civil Georgia is supported by USAID, Friedrich Ebert Foundation and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the grants of which cover about 98% of the website's expenses.[2]

Activities and reach

As of January 2009, Civil Georgia claims to reach 10,000 daily visitors.[2]

As of 2024, Civil Georgia continued to publish Georgian political news and analysis.[1]

Cyberspace attack

In August 2008, Civil.ge had down time during an attack by Russian crackers early in the Russo-Georgian war.[3]
