I Agree, Delete this Category
[edit]This should be deleted due to the fact that 99% of established rappers are of african american descent. Mitchellandness1 (talk) 01:16, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
This category shouldn't exist
[edit]The other name for "African American rapper" is "rapper". On the other hand, "White rapper", "asian rapper", "eskimo rapper", etc...those are worthwhile categories. This is like a category for "Caucasian Country Musicians". Triggtay 23:55, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- I Agree....I SAY IT SHOULD BE DELETED. Besides where is the Caucasion categories?
- Ummm, no Xzibit, no The D.O.C. ? Did I miss something or are they not considered Black American Rappers? oO —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.54.68.201 (talk) 01:45, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- I agree too. The category is pointless. It is a safe and non-racist assumption to make that an American rapper is likely to be African-American. This is without question true. The opposite is not true. It is unusual for a Caucasian rapper to have been successful and seeing them in a category would be interesting and worthwhile. Strangely that category was deleted! Wikipedia has its head up its butt here. Jason Quinn (talk) 19:37, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- Agree wholeheartedly. What's the point, exactly?--MichaelProcton (talk) 04:38, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
KanYe West
[edit]Shouldn't KanYe West be listed here? I think that he is African American, but I could be wrong. 71.192.37.152 (talk) 01:52, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Even If We Don't Delete The Category, The Subcategories Should Go
[edit]Seriously, the "DJ Premier" sub-category leads to 4 pages and has no real, central thread. The J Dilla category is better, but I still don't feel that it's essential. Thoughts? 69.134.203.112 (talk) 17:14, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
I agree that this section is pointless...
[edit]As Mitchellandness1 mentioned, this category is pointless since the vast majority of rappers in the US are African Americans, so there isn't too much point in having this section. A category for the minorities in this industry (e.g. Caucasians and Asians) would be much more notable because there are not too many of them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.129.92.149 (talk) 08:06, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Can we get this category deleted now? After all, a category for Caucasians or Asians would be notable as they are a minority in rapping. It's daft to have an article on the majority and not one on the minority, so I vote for a delete... one for Caucasians and Asians should be created. ElijahTM (talk) 10:24, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
Come on now, this is ridiculous. This category must go! ElijahTM (talk) 16:37, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Don't just ignore this... if someone was looking for someone on here of the African American ethnic group, they would most likely to just search for "rapper" (due to them being the dominant ethnic group). On the other hand, if one were to search for a Caucasian they would most likely write "White rappers" or "Caucasian rappers". ElijahTM (talk) 20:34, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
The discussion linked at the top of this that supposedly concludes keep doesn't seem to have anything to do with the category or it's deletion, just whether African American should be hyphenated. Also, I support deletion. --Stihdjia (talk) 14:19, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Keep it up
[edit]I dont see how it offends anyone, its just a list of people of a type of music, whats to bet that all the above yelling "BRING IT DOWN" are black wana be rappers them selves, huh? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.253.130.87 (talk) 08:04, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Because it, like you apparently, is intentionally racist.
