Black Warrant is an upcoming web series made by Netflix, adapted from a 2019 book Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer by Sunil Gupta & Sunetra Choudhury. It is scheduled to be released on 10 January 2025.[1] It is directed by Sacred Game fame Vikramaditya Motwane and Satyanshu Singh.[2]

Premise

The web series is set in the 1980s, based on certain true events told from the perspective of Sunil Gupta who was a rookie jailer at Tihar Jail.[3]

Production

In June 2020, it was announced that Motwane will be adapting the 2019 non-fiction book Black Warrant into a web series.[4] Motwane's production company Andolan Films and journalist Josy Joseph's company Confluence Media & Vipin Agnihotri Films acquired the rights for the web series.[5]

Release

The series is slated to premiere on Netflix on 10th January 2025.[6]
