Behrestan (بهرستان, also Romanized as Behrestān and Baharestan; also known as Bahristān and Behristān)[1] is a village in Asir Rural District, Asir District, Mohr County, Fars province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 493, in 93 families.[2]

Geography

Behrestan is located in the southern part of Fars province and is part of the Mohr County administrative division. The village lies within the Asir Rural District, an area known for its scenic landscapes and its proximity to the regional capital, Shiraz. The village is situated near major roadways that connect it to other settlements within Fars province.[3]

History

Behrestan is part of the broader historical and cultural landscape of Fars province, an area with a rich Persian heritage. Although specific historical records about Behrestan are scarce, the region has long been an important cultural center, with influences from several ancient civilizations.[4]

Demographics

At the 2006 census, Behrestan had a population of 493 people, spread across 93 families. The village is home to a small but close-knit community. Over time, there has been some gradual population growth due to migration from surrounding areas in search of better economic opportunities. In recent years, local infrastructure, including roads and educational facilities, has been improved to meet the needs of the expanding population.[5]
