Ankur Malik (born November 5, 2003) is an Indian cricketer who plays as an allrounder for Sikkim. He is a right-handed batter and a legbreak bowler. Malik has represented Sikkim cricket team in domestic cricket across all formats, including First-Class cricket, List A, and T20 matches.

Early life and background

Ankur Malik was born in Sikkim, India, on November 5, 2003. His cricketing journey is significant as he is among the few cricketers to have emerged from Sikkim, a region with limited cricketing infrastructure. Malik is recognized as an all-rounder.[1]

Domestic career

Ankur Malik made his debut in domestic cricket for Sikkim during the 2021-22 season. Over the years, he has played across all formats—First-Class, List A, and T20 cricket.

  • Century and Five-Wicket Haul: Malik became the first cricketer from Sikkim to score a century and take five wickets in a single game. He scored 100 not out and took 5-27 against Arunachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy match.[2]
  • Duleep Trophy 2022: He represented North East Zone, scoring 81 runs in an innings against West Zone.[3]
  • U-19 Challenger Trophy: Represented Sikkim in 2021, marking a milestone for the state.[4]

Club cricket

In 2023, Ankur Malik joined Northop Hall Cricket Club in Liverpool, England. He made an impact, scoring 308 runs and taking 25 wickets in his first five matches. His standout performance came against Prestatyn, where he scored 94 runs with the bat and then took 7 wickets bowling in the Liverpool Cricket Competition.[5]
