The 2024 Women's Basketball League Africa was the 28th season of this competition for women's teams in Africa. The tournament began on 6 December and ended on 15 December 2024, and was held in Dakar, Senegal.[1]

Sporting Alexandria were the defending champions, but were eliminated in the group stage this time round.

Name change

[edit]

On 25 March 2024, the name was tweaked and is now called the Women's Basketball League Africa.[2]

Hosting rights

[edit]

Originally, Morocco was given the hosting rights, however, on 22 October 2024, Senegal received the hosting rights instead.[3] This is Senegal's fifth time hosting and first since 1999.

Qualification

[edit]

Twelve teams qualified for the main tournament, up from 10 from the previous editions. The top 2 from each zone qualified while the remaining spots would be given out by FIBA Africa. Those spots were given to FAP, Nigeria Customs and APR.[4] Although, before the tournament started, Nigeria Customs withdrew. Their spot was given to Jeanne D'Arc.[5]
