They defeated UNLV in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West tournament and Utah State in the semifinals before losing to Utah State in the championship game. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 5 seed in the East region, the school's fourth straight trip to the tournament. They defeated UAB and Yale in the first and second rounds before losing in last year's national championship game rematch to UConn in the sweet sixteen.
