Jamesghenderson

Hi, I’m Jim Henderson. I live in Durham, North Carolina, USA. Now retired as an educator, I enjoy writing, editing, and composing and playing music.

During ten years of post-secondary schooling, I earned an AB in Religion from Gettysburg College, an MA in Comparative Religion from Columbia University (NYC), and a PhD in Religion and Culture from Duke University.

For 32 years I was a teacher and administrator at Carolina Friends School.

I have played the saxophone professionally for more than 50 years. Inspired by meeting Rahsaan Roland Kirk when I’d first begun working with bands, I play tenor and alto at the same time. Of course, I play them separately as well, along with soprano and baritone saxophone too. I also play keyboards and guitar.

During the first decade of the current millennium I wrote, composed, produced and recorded a modern musical adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest. That musical is entitled Ariel’s Way.

I also contribute to my wife’s work as a parent educator, lactation consult, international speaker, and author. Her business is HUG Your Baby.
