Other race (and new class) possibility

hey guys, i like just posted an edit to the main page about the possibility of the new race being high elves, and i logged in this morning and saw that wikipedia removed my post, and i was just wondering if anybody else finds my theory reasonable. Im guessing that the new alliance races is going to be high elves, the ones that stayed behind and didnt go to outland in wc3:ft, mostly because they are loyal to the alliance. also, look at the balance of starting locations: originally it was; kalimdor- 2 horde, 1 alliance; eastern kingdoms- 2alliance, 1 horde. now, with the adding of blood elves, easter kingdoms is 2 horde, and 2 alliance. i bring this up because majorit of the high elves live with jaina proudmoore in theramore--a city in kalimdor. do u think its possible that they could be the new race, and have their starting location somewhere in kalimdor? i know this is unlikely, because the night elves hate high elves, but thats because they wouldnt stop practicing magic, and quite frankly, NEITHER DID THE HUMANS!!! and they still allied with them, so do u think its possible that the night elves might actually forgive the high elves, and as a sign of newborn friendship, pull that crap where they chuck an acorn into the ocean and form a huge tree, like they did for themselves before WoW was released? it all seems out on a limb i know, and the only real downside to this is that their so common to the blood elves, that the racial abilities might be a little close, but, due to climate and where theve been, i think the blood elves have slightly redder skin, and greenish eyes, whereas the highelves are extremely pale and have blue eyes. and, im sure that blizzard can scrape off some creative differences between racial abilities, which im sure they's have to do if, in their next expansion, if they have one, they plan to include the scourge as a new faction, thus bringing up relations between the true undead and the forsaken, but ofcourse, will of the forsaken is current undead ability, but it will again be tricky, but not impossible. but seriously, doesntany of this make the least bit of sense?!

and also, i'd like to introduce the idea of a new class. i kno blizzard hasnt said anything about ityet, but thats also my point. while they have everyone up in arms about the new race and who's it gonna be, they could release the new race, and at the same thime, reveal that there is a new class, but not tell what it is? and it makes perfect sense that, if they do, it would be demon hunter, and this would be available obviously to blood and night elves, as some of both partake in the practice, and, if i am correct about the high elves, they could also include them into the availability, as, with their newfangled friendship with the night elves, they could teach them. the class role would be simple. it would either be damage dealing or another cross-faction hybrid (such as the druid), with fireball-like abilities, but spells like metamorphosis as well (which, most likely, would be a 31-point talent of some sort). and, this would bring anew importance to their odd double sword thingamajiggers, which do apear in the game now (and if anyone knows what they are classified as let me know) but to me, it only seems fitting that, with new races, comes new classes. even if they are un mentioned yet.

and it has come to my attention that, blizzard could be out of ideas for new races and other features to include in tbc, so it is possible, with such a huge fanbase, that they could just wing it and go off of what ppl like us are saying. like for instance; if i get a bunch of people convinced that the new race is high elves,a nd like somebody said above, blizzard ahs no idea what theyre gonna make the new race, then they could just completely guess and make it so that the high elves are the new race, orwhatever the popular guess is when it comes time for release, but knowing blizzard, i highly doubt they will, but its a possibility nonetheless.

--Late Leo 19:18, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Late Leo

Not to rain on your parade (you've obviously spent a bit of time thinking about it), but pretty much everything you've just mentioned is wrong. Blizzard has stated the following before on the US forums:
    1. There will be no new class added in the expansion
    2. High Elves will NOT be a playable race ... there simply aren't enough of them left on Azeroth for them to be viable as a race. Furthermore, I believe the High Elves that are left didn't go to Outland simply because they COULDN'T or didn't know about Kael and his Blood Elves. After all, the majority of High Elves left on Azeroth are in Kalimdor (having traveled to Theramore with Jaina's forces).
    3. I highly doubt that Blizzard is out of ideas for the expansion. Besides, if they were out of ideas, they could always created a new race and we wouldn't know the difference (of course, Blizzard has stated that the new Alliance race will be one of the currently known ones, not a comletely new one).
--Arabani (TalkContribs) 06:51, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Leo I told you my reason for removing the info on your talk page. I meant to mention the high elf race thing.Brokenscope 21:13, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

wow. that sucksthat high elves wont be a new race. but yeah some of them stayed behind because they disagreed with the blood elves, and usedthe night elven idea of moon wells to cure their obsession. i still wish it was them. --Late Leo 03:29, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

ok. im willing to accept that the high elves are not the new race. however, i am extremely angry to see that some idiot removed the possibilities for the new races altogether. seriously man, for those people who want info, but ahve no idea who it is, leave it up there. and for the sake of looking and taking in others' opinions. --Late Leo 23:08, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

An encyclopedia is not a place for opinions, it is a place for facts. Wikipedia is not a soapbox or a blog, and it is not here to spread one's opinions. There were no facts regarding the new alliance race in the removed section, only conjecture and speculation, as there has been no information released. Furthermore, please see the section regarding No personal attacks; just because you disagree with someone here, doesn't mean you have the right to call them an idiot. 63.166.226.90 15:29, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Isn't it still possible for Wikipedia to rule out the potential ideas for the new alliance race?

Yes it could, but that is not the job of wikipedia. That is the job of blizzard. Forethat matter i was never sure why there was a section on "speculation". If you want to rule out the possibility for a race do it somewhere else. Unless you can cite blizzard as saying that a race will not be in the game you can not rule it out on this page. Brokenscope 03:58, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Appropriate to use uncensored magazine cover?

The uncensored cover of The Games Machine has been widely available through the official World of Warcraft forums for some time tonight, and I have saved it. Would it be appropriate to show it, considering Blizzard likely had a hand in forcing the censorship (both the website the the cover section listing the name and some details have been blacked out)? I'm not too sure.--Not . K 09:30, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

Let's keep it, if they want it removed they can remove it themselves. :P Other then that, it's all still a rumor until Blizzard lifts the lid. Havok (T/C) 11:25, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

Expansion Talents and Spells Preview

I'm new to being a member of Wikipedia so don't wanna mess somethin up but on the World of Warcraft webiste they have shown the talents and spells for all classes except the Hunter maybe someone could include that i don't know how so someone help???

Yeah I'm Crazy 23:20, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Flying mounts

may i just say what everyone is probably thinking. blizzard did a pretty bad job of covering this one up. everybody knows what the flying mount is going to be on outland. yes, i know, it is controllable by you, but still, i have not a single doubt in my mind taht it is going to be dragonhawks. think about it: this expansion is revolving around the blood elves, outland, and quel' thalas. now, think of a flying mount related to that. isnt it obvious, or am i just the only one who sees it?

--Late Leo 19:17, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Late Leo

Leo this is not a page to discuss speculation, this is to discuss problems with the content of the article. Brokenscope 00:16, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

Time travel..?

What's with the time travel rumor? that makes no sense and no one realistically expects it. I tried deleting it but it was changed back...

It has been proven that places like Durnholde Keep have two "instances" of itself. One which is the pressent time where everything is in ruines, and one that has everything up as it was in the past, with guards walking around. So it's safe to assume that some form of "timetravel" will be in the game at one point. Maybe not the expansion, but at one time. Besides it's in the rumors section, and should be taken as such. Havok (T/C) 09:21, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
Also, if you use the WoWMapView program to explore the Caverns of Time map already in the production client, you can see such things as an intact version of Tarren Mill in the Hillsbrad Foothills, pre-Scourge. Technogeek 00:12, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
The translated magazine articles of TGM says that the Caverns of Time in the expansion will allow people to revisit things. You'll notice that there is a screenshot with a green portal that is titled the Black Morass. The Black Morass is the old name for the Blasted Lands. It used to be jungley until the portal opened, after which it turned into a wasteland. So, I'm guessing you will be able to revisit the Blasted Lands (Black Morass) before the portal to Draenor was opened. XxAvalanchexX (T/C) 09:43, 18 October 2005 (EST)
I belive that one of the developers mentioned that one of there ideas for the time travel instances involved protecting Medivh as he tries to open the dark portal. I'm gonna try to dig up the magazine where i read that. I think it was CGW. Brokenscope 00:47, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
That's true, Brokenscope. I remember reading the same thing. According to Blizzard, the Caverns of Time provide a way for those with evil intentions to alter the timeline, presumably in their favor, and it is the players' duty to ensure that history unfolds the way it did. --Arabani 04:43, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
I've been told that the time tavel goes to the opening of the Dark Portal, the time Thrall was escaping from that human's place (err, is that Durnhold Keep? ^_^;; I thought it was Stromgarge), and the Battle of Mount Hyjal. They all involve Thrall, and the idea is that with him taken out of the equation, the Horde will not unite with the humans and elves to protect Hyjal, Archimond will not be stopped, and the demons will win. So I guess we have to save Thrall *grumblegrumble* (Darien Shields 08:40, 31 January 2006 (UTC))
Yeah, it's Durnholde Keep you help Thrall escape from. The overall idea is that we help keep the timeline intact, since the Caverns of Time let everybody meddle with the timeline, so we need to make sure that history works out the way it did in order to keep things from going out of whack. The Battle of Mt. Hyjal should be interesting ... wonder how they're going to get Alliance and Horde in the same instance for that. :D --Arabani (TalkContribs) 11:17, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

I know you can go to old IF or old hillsbrad when it was still under alliance controll

Blood Elves Screenshots

This just came up on digg. The digg comunity didn't seem to happy about it's appearance on the front page. But it's there none the less. I'll let everyone else here be the judge on if it's real or not.

I have allready added the information to the main article. They do look real, and I would love for it to be true. I guess we'll know in a week or so. ;) Havok (T/C) 14:22, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

Portcullis

Someone recently added (to the rumor of player housing), "However, the instance portal behind the portcullis is currently used for officer barracks". The person who added that is mistaken, so I'm going to rewrite it with more specifics to decrease confusion of what portcullis it is. Mastgrr 00:12, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

Using a program called WoW model viewer (See post on New Instances) I also found something of intrest. It was a few houses, different one story and two story once, just like found around in small towns. The object was called something along the lines of Playerhousinghumantest1 2 3 and 4. There were only two differnent models shown, I dont know if they were different on the outside or not, but they were clearly called player housing houses. Guest

New Instances

I have a program called the WoW model viewer that lets you look at different items, people, mobs and the like, that are in the game. I was flipping through the thing and saw something interesting. It was a ragnaros like wind elemental, one of the old gods. So we can expect to have a few more of those fellows to beat into the ground with 39 friends.

Actually, that's Thunderaan the Windseeker. You summon him to get the sword Thunderfury. Here's a guide [1]. Mastgrr 12:55, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
As of yet, very little is known of the Old Gods but we do know of their Elemental lieutenants, one of them being Ragnaros the Firelord. The other three are Therazane the Stonemother, Al'Akir the Windlord, and Neptulon the Tidehunter. Derktar 22:17, 28 October 2005 (UTC).

I can't belive this. The supposedely "leaked" screenshot of a female pandaren is actually a photoshopped figure of an ogre with panda-pet head as its head and undead arms as its arm. I will delete that picture and the excerpt about leaked pandaren screenshot. Deiaemeth 11:28, 6 November 2005.

"Auchindoun is a fortress that the Alliance destroys to further their expeditions. (Note: Often mistranslated as 'Arcane Doom')." Mistranslated from what? Maybe edit this to read "misheard" or "referred to incorrectly as"?

For information regarding the new alli race, it says in the article that "the speculated Pandaren and Worgen choices have now been disproven." Where did this come from? 66.41.212.243 12:41, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Blood Elves

Is the comment about the Blood Elves being added as a "pretty" race really appropriate in this article? Brokenscope 00:22, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
It is a popular consensus among people who visit the Blizz fourms - almost verbatum for what it says in this article - that the Blood Elves are being added to the Horde as a token "pretty race." It is widely speculated that Blizzard is trying to balance things out by adding a beautiful, opulent race to the Horde (as opposed to Alliance, which already has in abundance), and in thus in turn add a primative, monsterous race to the Alliance (which the Horde already has in abundance). However, this is entirely speculation, and should either be taken out or (as I'd prefer) be rephrased to be more appropriate and informational. Brash 20:46, January 4 2005

Most people i have talked to feel that it is true that the alliance gets more advantages in the skills and looks department than the horde and that they play as elves usually because they are just 'cool looking' and that they have an unfair racial ability set. It would only be natural for the horde to get a similar mob. That way more people will transition back to the horde since the horde did get the shaft on a lot of things. Tik 16:14, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Not to start a Alliance/Horde spitfest, but people I've talked to (who play both Alliance and Horde) believe that the Horde have it much better in terms of racials and such. I won't list the various reasons, since I'm sure you've seen the list before. :)
Having said that, my personal opinion is that the Blood Elves were added as a pretty race, not because Horde "got the shaft on a lot of things." On my server, Horde beat Alliance in pretty much everything. It certainly doesn't seem to be the case that they got the shaft on anything. Anyway, the whole reason for my rant is that I hate the whole "wah wah! Blizzard hates (insert faction) and favors (insert other faction)!" thing. Arabani (talk · contribs)

could be, and i agree about not wanting to start a flamefest, but all i was saying is that there are lots of reasons alliance outnumber horde on most servers for reasons that are mostly due to favorable conditions. Most of the people ive talked to that have chosen alliance support this argument and so do horde players, however that doesnt impact how either side wins or loses or changes the players skill. All i was stating was my observation from players and another possible reason for the blood elves.(PS, dont forget to sign your posts , 4 tildes ~) Tik 18:52, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Bleh, that's the first time I've forgotten to sign a post ... *feels silly*. Hmm, might be a good time to try the whole {{user}} template thingy ... Oh, another thing ... I always thought the reason why Alliance outnumbered Horde was because we had so many pretty races, hence Horde getting a pretty race to attract more people. :D --Arabani 18:57, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, theres a lot of reasons, but perhaps with the release of the new race for horde we might see some people jumping ship to the horde. I just hope they make the effort to add new Elf animation/voices as opposed to just making a palette swap. Tik 14:08, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

actually, i mainly play alliance, not because of races, but i have a fetish for swords,i fell in love with the paladin, and thus my main is currently a human paladin, due too (what, as you said before, alot of people chose horde races for) racial abilities, and class availability. and my most active main, however, is an orc shaman, just because i want to play as shaman because the aspect of totems seems pretty cool. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Late Leo (talkcontribs)

what do you know?

I was wondering if any one knows any rumers about what will be put in the expantion. i am sure that some people would know little bits and pieces. so spill the beans!!

all thats really known is what blizzard lets spill out, for the most part they are the among the Nintendo's of secret keepers so they keep quite a good control about information distribution. The information that is on the article page is basically all that is known without you going to the main burning crusade page on wow.com. Tik 20:49, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Release date

According to the Swedish paper PC Gamer, the release date will be October 2006.

the expansion includes many things, including:

a level cap of 70 flying mounts new profession (jewel crafting) 100's of new intems 100's of new quests many more dungeons/insrtance etc. etc.

i found a picture of a BC charcter creation screen with pandas as a race on the alliance.just go to google.com then click images. in the bar provided type in the burning crusade. click on the first picture. when you come up to the next page look at the top where it says view fullsize. click that and youll see it.

The release date is still "to be announced," also if Blizzard had given a release date, it would probablly change at least once prior to release.

Regarding the "screen shot," I've seen it, its faked. The character even looks like it was edited into the picture. More importantly, if you read the race description, it becomes clear it is not correct. The playable Blood Elves in TBC are not the same that are allied with Illidan. Would the orcish Hoarde really accept a group that was allied with the Legion? Also, it displays both rogue and hunter as classes for the Blood Elves. Everything up until now clearly states the Blood Elves will be able to select hunter or rogue, not both. Nom Déplûmes 16:49, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

the release date is october 3rd, as said by clerks at gamestop. --Late Leo 22:17, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Expansion official date of relese

the date that it will be relesed is in October 2006, i phoned all the the people selling it and that is what they all sayed

See this post by Caydiem, a Community Manager on the official forums: [2]
We haven't announced an official release date of any kind -- not to the playerbase, and not to retailers.
When a product is set for release and they're offering pre-orders as many PC game stores are wont to do, they need a date of some kind up there. Often times, if there is no official date, they will estimate a date.
There's no official date, and the dates provided by retailers are just estimates that aren't endorsed by Blizzard. When Blizzard announces the date of the Expansion, that's when there will be an official release date. 63.166.226.83 16:31, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

uhh, dude i ahve a copy reserved at gamestop, and they said it was comin out like in july. if i remember entirely correctly, it was july 4, but im not sure about the exact date. all i know is its july.

Shops will say all sorts of things. But there is no official release date, and as said above, dates provided by retailers are just estimates that aren't endorsed by Blizzard. --Stormie 21:36, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

no company can tell us when it will be out when Blizzard hasnt even announced it yet. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.84.33.57 (talkcontribs) .

TBA vs TBD

Is the offcial wikipedia format "To be Annouced" or "To be Determined"? Is there an official standard? Brokenscope 23:56, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

i would leave it as to be announced, because either way its not publicly known, and if u put TBD, and its not, tahts false info. so put TBA jsut to be safe unless u have official evidence that blizz has set in stone the release date.--Late Leo 01:45, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Regarding the release date

Lately, I've seen lots of edits changing th relesae date from TBA to various dates. The official FAQ on WOW:TBC website states that..

Q: When will the expansion be released? How much will it cost? A: We have not yet announced a release date for the expansion set. However, we expect to announce further details, including the release date and price, on our community website in the months ahead. Please stay tuned to www.WorldofWarcraft.com for more information.

So the release date is not officially determined as of yet. Some interviews with developers of the game hinted at release date being a) Q2 2006 b) Q3 2006 and such, but those the aren't the official release dates. I would like to discourage editors from making edits on the release date until Blizzard decides to officially announce the release date for WoW:TBC[3].Deiaemeth 03:45, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

100% agreed. The opening paragraph explains the situation and mentions the rumours. As long as the release date is yet to be announced, the date in the infobox should remain TBA! --Stormie 12:29, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

according to gamestop, the release date is october third, 06--Late Leo 23:11, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

There is no official release date yet. Gamestop's date, like everyone else's, is speculation. --Stormie 06:13, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Pandaren proven false?

"Although the Pandaren have enjoyed good relationship with the Night Elves in the past and are amiable toward the Dwarves (who share their love for ale), not much information has been revealed about this mysterious race. The possiblity of the Pandaren being the new race has been proven as false by Blizzard."

Where did Blizzard say this? The only thing I remember blizzard debunking for the alliance race was the kool aid guy.

I've never heard this, I think someone just wrote it in without a source.

And the rumors of the kool-aid man being denounced broke my heart. It seems I will never see my favourite wall-busting, red-juice-filled-pitcher-that-walks in Azeroth. A man can dream, though. A man can dream.

Draenei Information

ok. so the draenei are the new race. however, notice that blizzard has not shown us any screenshots of the so-called azuremyst isles (btw: i'd like to see some proof that that is indeed the starting location, as it wasnt on the website), nor have they revealed the name of the capital city, or (for either new race) the racial mounts. please, if anyone has any info from forums or anything, straight form the mouth of a blizz employee, leave a note. cuz i'd love to hear it.--Late Leo 01:44, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

April Fools Joke

Wisps as the new Alliance race is obviously an April Fools joke. Blizzard is widely known for its jokes (/panda being one specifically from WoW). Also, wisps are already in the game as the ghosts of the Night Elves. It's also ridiculous to believe Blizzard would add one race that had permadeath. It's a joke, and leave the mention of it as such (not "speculation" or "believed", it's a joke). GreatGatsby 04:43, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

i agree. if u look on the character cuztomazation, theres only facial hair and color. and the facial hair is corporeal, but the rest of it is ethereal. it pissed me off at first, but now i just laugh and think "blizzard, u guys got me".--216.229.17.8 05:03, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

The facial hair picture is hilarious. GreatGatsby 05:05, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Blizzard hasn't officially announced that it is in fact an April Fool's joke. I agree that it is pretty absurd to think that it isnt a joke, but this isn't a place for our opinions. 10:59, 2 April 2006

Indeed. Hence the "wide speculated to be". Thanks for changing it back. :) --Arabani (TalkContribs) 04:44, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

I do hope Wisps merely kill the player character, and not the player. What sort of peripherals would that require, anyway? -- 128.192.93.12 20:42, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

So, ummm, can we take the Wisp stuff down now? Give the wisp its own article if you love it so much, but right now it doesn't seem super relevant here, and almost gives the impression that there's no new alliance race. Darien Shields 12:07, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Feel free to go ahead and take it down now if you'd like. It'll be gone eventually when the new alliance race is revealed anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens at this year's E3. --TheKoG (talk|contribs) 13:05, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

The Nelf classes are indeed Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, and Druid. See the WoW class chart on the WoW article. Now, if this chart is incorrect, you can change that, or if the list of classes for the wisp is incorrect, you can change that. However, as it stands, it seems to be a correct statement. Altair 15:36, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Eredar

I would seem that the new race is infact Eredar. No word has yet been given from Blizzard, so let's just keep it as speculation until we know more.

I'll add more when I find it.Havok (T/C) 10:37, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Attended E3, played a Draenei in the Blizzard Booth - their starting area is called "Azuremyst Island", and initial starting place is the Crash site of interdimensional spaceship, called "Exodar". First series of quests revolves around gathering stuff for healing the wounded Draeneis. Too bad I didn't get to see the Draenei capital city, but I saw Silvermoon and Ghostlands (Blood Elves level 10-20 leveling zone). There is a neutral faction of Bloodelves called Tranquillien in the Ghostlands, and many scourge-affiliated mobs.

Also, Hellfire peninsula in Draenor seemed interesting - The alliance base ther e was called "Honor Hold", but I forgot what the Horde base was called. I only saw level 55-57 mobs in the Hellfire Peninsula - mutated Boars and Mutated Clefthoofs (looks like thunder lizards). Deiaemeth 08:18, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Mount Hyjal

The last section in the article about Mount Hyjal being in the game is just a rumour without anything to back it up and should be removed.

Removed, seeing as there where no sources given, and that the other part of it is talked about further up. Also, please do not post "unofficial" information in its own section. Havok (T/C) 11:49, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Mt.Hyjal is actually in the game now, if you go into darkwhisper pass and up through the mountains you used to be able to see the area when there is a gate and a portal, and you used to be able to death rez on the other side of the portal, they did fix it, but it is lush woods up there, with some craters like blasted lands, and the world tree is there as well, as a instanced area like onyxias lair, an exact replica.

New cities

OK, so, since there are gonna be some new races, im assuming that they are going to have capital cities, since all the starting areas have a capital city. HOWEVER, thats not what i wanted to ask. Since each capital city has a weapons trainer, does that mean that their are going to be new weapon types, or will they just be redistributed. Also, did they announce the release date at E3? I got my dad to tape G4's coverage, but i havent had a chance to watch it yet.AimeeLee 01:07, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Oh, wait never mind about the release date.--AimeeLee 01:08, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
New cities are as follows: Exodar for the Draenei and Silvermoon for the Blood Elves. About the weapons trainer, nothing is known about them yet, but Blizzard did not announce any new weapon types so I'm assuming they will be redistributed or have duplicate trainers in the new cities. Expansion items available to those who don't buy the expansion?

Is is notable enough to include the things that will be available for players without the expansion? I mean: there will be a downloadable patch to WoW to enable regular players to even 'see' parts of the new content (at least to 'see' the new race models ingame). Players without WoW:TBC cannot jewelcraft but they will be able to use jewelcrafted items. There are new areas to explore even without the purchase of the expansion (new races start areas, but not the outland continent) does the expansion include instances available to all players? So what is included in this expansion but not exclusive to the expansion-buyers? Might be worth noting IMHO. Felsir 08:01, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

If it is sourced go right ahead. But has Blizzard said anything on the final details when it comes to the expansion patch? Havok (T/C/c) 08:07, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

You could easily predict what will not be available to people without the expansion but blizzard has not said anything on the matter as of now. So I would suggest not including assumptions in the article. It already mentions that some features will be restricted and that is enough for the moment. --Paddyffrench 15:33, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Additional content is not accessible for those who do not have the expansion, this includes; Creating Draenei or Blood Elf characters, accessing Outlands/Dark Portal, training Jewelcrafting, and levelling past level 60. I've my copy so I'm able to do all of this. :D I think it's worth mentioning. I can't access the WoW site at work so I can't link you but I'm completely sure it's in the FAQ, I recall reading that sometime last week. Fr0

Blood Elf classes

Just reverted a change adding Hunter to the list of Blood Elf classes - I'm going by (Couldn't revert due to tiny url link) post from Eyonix from May 4th, referencing a design direction email dated April 24th. If you want to change the list, please cite a statement from a Blizzard source more recent than that. --Stormie 23:49, 1 June 2006 (UTC) Edited: Altair 17:16, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

FYI, on the official Burning Crusade website, it appears that Blood Elves will not be Warriors, but will be Hunters. I have corrected the listing on the page to reflect this change. --Xlorep DarkHelm 18:43, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Someone gotta unlink all sections linking to the same page, for example lots of the dungeons have a link just simply redirected to this page. Shandristhe azylean 20:28, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism

"World Of Warcraft is dee dee dee!-"

someone posted that at the beginning of the article.

While its sweet that the guy watches Mind of Mencia, I wish he'd lay off the pot (or stop playing Everquest) :)

Jewelcrafting

Should Jewelcrafting be given its own article? Right now it's just a footnote in the General Information, but there's certainly enough information on it to write up a decent explanation. (See http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burningcrusade/townhall/jewelcrafting.html)

http://www.wowwiki.com/Burning_Crusade_DMCA_Takedown_Notice

Not sure how this applies to the article, but as far as I can tell it's telling us to remove all the pictures.

None of the images on this page are taken from the alpha of the expansion pack, they're all publicity shots that Blizzard has released. This means the linked to item doesn't actually apply to these images. Ben W Bell talk 06:57, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Outland

I added and cleaned up the region info for Outland using info from the interactive map linked on Blizzard's main website. The information there is what is currently known about the regions. Hyde v 22:11, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Netherstorm

Should someone check on Netherstorm being for 67-70 players? Or at least mention that, unless you are summoned there or are a druid, you wont be able to reach it until you hit level 70? There are a lot of places in WoW that you can get to that are beyond your level, this doesn't mean the zone is meant for you. Roffler 20:35, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Netherstorn is linked to the rest of Outland by a bridge between the edge of it and Blade's Edge Mountains. --Shandristhe azylean 20:49, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

"Terokkar Forest The instance Auchindoun is located here consisting of four wings: ... and the Mana-Tombs for levels 70-72." It was made clear that the level cap is 70, so someone should check the proper sources and fix this error.

Level Error in the description for Terokkar Forest

"Terokkar Forest The instance Auchindoun is located here consisting of four wings: ... and the Mana-Tombs for levels 70-72." It was made clear that the level cap is 70, so someone should check the proper sources and fix this error.

I believe the official level range is 70-72 and those numbers describe the levels of the mobs in the instance, not the level of the players entering it. 81.86.163.133 17:42, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Black Temple

The black temple cannot house Illidan at all. If anyone has finished Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne you will remember that Arthas kills Illidan outside of The Frozen Throne chamber while trying to enter it so the Black Temple simply cannot house him at all... P.S. is there any instance where you get to kill Arthas at all?

Arthas doesn't kill Illidan, he severely wounds him. Then, presumably because he desired Lich King's power now rather than later, he doesn't take 2 seconds to kill him. 67.84.82.147 01:07, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Draeni

Could we not shimmy over a Draeni picture from the main Draeni page, or at least get a new one? I mean, we have a blood elf one, so just bring over a Draeni one!

New Enemies

i deleted the entire section because 1) it looked ugly 2) way too in-depth for an encyclopedia article --Htmlism 11:12, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Elements already present in WoW as of patch 2.0.1

Something to consider is that parts of this article, such as the looking for group window, are now present in the basic game of WoW thanks to patch 2.0.1. Thus those improvements are, in fact, not part of the Burning Crusade expansion in the sense that all players have full access to them regardless of whether or not they purchase the expansion.

I would recommend moving any notable information from this article regarding features included in patch 2.0.1 to the main article World of Warcraft, and having this article specifically talk about content and other things that are only availble to players who purchase the expansion CD (eg Blood Elves, expansion instances and zones). Including material here that was released as part of the normal content patch process is misleading. Dugwiki 17:04, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

For lack of comment, I have gone ahead and deleted information from this article that pertain to changes already present in WoW as of patch 2.0.1. Almost all the deletions were in the PvP and LFG sections of the article, since patch 2.0.1 included both the new honor point system and lfg search window. The only PvP item in the article that appears to specifically be in the Burning Crusade expansion itself is the reference to the Outland PvP town which players can capture.

Of course, if someone disputes my removing the information, please feel free to discuss or reinsert something I deleted as necessary. My main goal here is to trim the article of information that isn't directly related to content and changes that are in the expansion itself. Dugwiki 21:27, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Looks good to me. My only concern would be if some of that information should be added to the World of Warcraft article, but at first glance I don't see anything in the removal that needs to be moved over. Jpers36 21:31, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Problem - 2.0.1 includes all of the expansion content, but some requires having the expansion to access. Torinir ( Ding my phone My support calls E-Support Options ) 21:32, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I specifically tried to only delete items that are actively available to all players with the 2.0.1 patch. For example, everybody now has full access to the lfg window, and everybody is using the honor point system. So I removed those items from this Burning Crusade article. However, since most level 61-70 talents and skills and spells and items will only be usable if you have the expansion, I left all that information in this article. Dugwiki 21:36, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
All of the talents are accessible, and very few skills are not accessible. Torinir ( Ding my phone My support calls E-Support Options ) 21:39, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
I believe (am not 100% sure) that in order to level your character past 60, you'll need to own the expansion. If so then the level 61-70 spells and class abilities will not be accessible to characters of players who don't own it. You are correct, though, that all the talents are accessible to all players (there are no level specific talents). So I'll also go ahead and remove references to the talents. Dugwiki 21:45, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Turns out the point is moot; I didn't see any information in this article regarding the new talents. So there was nothing to remove. Dugwiki 21:47, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
I applaud your efforts, sir. --Htmlism 00:39, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
/thank Htmlism Dugwiki 20:24, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure how this should be worked in, but in terms of PVP, even though arena battles have been released with the latest patch, you can only participate in "skirmishes", to participate in ranked games and "competitive PVP" for the new armor and weapon sets you must be able to create and/or join an "arena team" which requires being level 70 to either create or join. So even though arena battles exist in WoW now, the competitive aspect will only be available with the expansion. 65.173.199.254 19:33, 15 December 2006 (UTC) G_

Rude Text

The text for this article sems to contain several rude references, though when attempting to edit it showed everything as normal. Any suggestions?

The rude text was probably vandalism that was reverted while you were trying to edit the article. If you spot current vandalism, though, feel free to revert it out. Dugwiki 18:13, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I deleted a page which I believe to be a phishing page, asking for users to "upgrade" their accounts to Burning Crusade status, and asking for account information and your BC cd-key.

- ProfGlitch

That actually was the real page. Anything in the worldofwarcraft.com domain is an offical Blizzard page. Now, I wonder how people knew about it on the 14th... *tries looking innocent* Maged123 03:11, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Page Locked

I have locked the page due to the possibility of release hype leading to article spam. --Insanity13 06:10, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

The page is not currently protected according to the page's logs. I have removed the tag stating it was protected. Also semi-protection is not used as a preemptive measure against vandalism. Have a good day, and happy editing. Kyra~(talk) 11:37, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
The page obviously is protected, because I can't edit it. And now there's not even a tag explaining why. 69.85.180.44 21:28, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
At the time I posted that message, the page was indeed unprotected. Due to vandalism from anonymous editors however, the page became semi-protected. As for a tag, there is/was one, but it was changed to the little padlock icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Usually that is done if the page is protected for extended periods of time, or as least that is my understanding. I hope this helps to clarify any confusion you may have experienced. Have a great day, and happy editing. Kyra~(talk) 23:05, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

I really don't think this should be on the main page, isn't there a WoW criticism page? I think it would be more appropriate to put that stuff there. Fr0 13:42, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
