Name

I think this article should be returned to Ursa (villain) for the simple reason I don't think Ursa ever was a comic book character; the equivilent character in the comics was named Faora. Daibhid C 20:27, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Ursa never appeared in the comics. She was only in the films. Dmwc

Of course, as has been noted, that has changed in 2006, as film director Richard Donner is now co-writing Action Comics and brought the movie versions of the Phantom Zone criminals to the comics.
However, I do wonder about the statement (both here and in the Faora entry) that Ursa was undoubtedly based on Faora. Apparently, Faora's first appearance was in 1977, the same year that Superman I and II were filming. Surely the film's script would have floated around DC Comics by that point.

Why does the info box say her first appearance is Action Comics if her first appearance was Superman I? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.139.1.68 (talk) 19:53, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just bumping this issue again. Both Ursa and Non are originally characters from the Superman films, who have since appeared in comics. So Ursa (comics) and Non (DC Comics) (Non (comics) also redirects there so it seems over-disambiguated too) just aren't accurate. This seems to have led to an odd focus on the comics in the infoboxes - we should have photographs of the characters from the films and possibly not even mention their first appearance in comics (we don't mention the first appearances of comics characters in other media in their infoboxes so I don't see why this is different). Perhaps we need a compromise to help refocus the articles on the film characters - Ursa (Superman) and Non (Superman)? (Emperor (talk) 01:41, 18 April 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Lester's influence

From the current article: "In Lester's Superman II, Jor-El says 'Ursa, the only feeling you showed was for your vicious general. Your only wish, to rule at his side.' "

Followed by: " This version of her [in Donner's comic] was shown to have taken a cue from the Lester version "

If Jor-El said that about Ursa in any version of the film, Donner must have shot it, since Donner directed all of Brando's material in the film, before Lester's involvement. So Donner would not be taking a cue from the Lester version, but using aspects of the character that he himself first put on film. Discuss. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Killy mcgee (talkcontribs) 21:54, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That particular line in Lester's "Superman II" was spoken by a "sound-alike" actor (in voice over only), not by Marlon Brando. It was a change made by Lester. The original line in Donner's version was about Ursa's "unreasoning hatred for all mankind". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.119.37.96 (talk) 22:17, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Expert attention needed

In DC Comics continuity, Ursa has been rampaging all over Earth, such as attacking the White House. A lot more then what is currently in the article. Someone more familar with the material then I should add in the relevante, noteable info. Lots42 (talk) 09:31, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
