STATCOM can also mean "Statistics in the Community", which is a group of graduate students in statistics who give pro bono statistical consulting for non-profits, local governments, etc. There was an article about this recently in AMSTAT which can be read here. Just a heads up in case someone ever wants to write a WP article that we'll need a disambig page. Btyner 01:34, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Need photo and circuit diagrams
eg to compare with the diagram in Static synchronous series compensator. Description not clear to a non expert - eg what is the "reactor" mentioned ? - Rod57 (talk) 17:42, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
- Reactor is a fancy word for an (air-core) inductor. Added a wikilink. --Викидим (talk) 18:44, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- Added a 50,000-feet view (an old picture from Commons, a simpler diagram can certainly be made). --Викидим (talk) 19:08, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
