Lan County or Lanxian is a county of Shanxi, China. It is under the administration of Lüliang City.

The main produce there are potato and corn in this county, but the price is extremely low.
Farmers there could not make good money through nearly whole year working on farmlands. They have to do some parttime job, which is not easy to find in the county, to support their children's tuition fee.
Since the begining of 2000, more and more young labor choose to find job in big cities, because they can not earn enough money to cover their living expenses if they stay there. The prices of cereals increased a bit, but far behind the increase of goods and housing prices. They will stay there, but their children would not come back to the county since few chance there and mainly seized in few people s hands. When they get old, their life become harder and the future is not so promising.
