TRANSPARENT HEATING FILMS
The transparent heating film, also called transparent heating plastic or heating transparent polymer film is a thin and flexible polymer film with a conductive optical coating. Transparent heating films are able to heat up by means of 2,5 kWatt/square meter at powers below 48 VDC. This allows heating with seccure transformers delivering voltages which will not heart the human body. Transparent conductive polymer films may be used for heating transparent glasses. A combination with transparent SMD electronic for multipurpose applications,[1][2] is also possible.

Using ITO as transparent conductive material sheet resistances of 25 - 10'000 Ohm/square may be achieved. This transparent conducive material is vacuum sputtered on the base material, for example on highly transparent Polyester. Due to its low glass transition temperature it will lose its flatness at temperatures exceeding 90 °C. Basematerials for higher temperatures are usually based on conductive printed thermally stable materials, like PEN or Polyimide.
Transparent heating films may be laminated between glass like other functional interlayers like transparent LED films.[4] The lamination between other materials like PVC, metals, polymers, stones, or wood should be optimized with respect to a proper electric insulation.
