Brian James (born January 7, 1976) is an American author who is known for his young adult fiction novels as well as illustrated children's books.[citation needed] Brian James published his first book, Pure Sunshine, when he was 23 years old. Since then, his published works range from children's books, including the Pirate School series and the Catkid series, to the young adult novels such as Tomorrow, Maybe; Perfect World; Dirty Liar; Thief; Zombie Blondes; and The Heights.[citation needed] His most recent novel to date, a children's adaptation of the movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, The Confidential G.I. JOE Files (G.I. Joe Movie), has a scheduled release date of June 23, 2009.[citation needed]

Brian James was born in Virginia. He was 18 when he moved to New York City. There he attended NYU, majoring in English Literature[citation needed]
