A.K.A. Noel Douglas[1]

Noah Douglas served with Company H of the United States Colored Infantry during the American Civil War and represented Saint Landry Parish in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1868-1870. His life was threatened and he was unable to return home.[2] He was a Republican.[3]

His election was contested.[4]

Fellow African American Representatives at the time included Moses Sterrett of Caddo Parish, Antoine, Pinchback, Jerry Hall of Orleans, Victor Lange, and Robert Lange, both of East Baton Rouge. Samuel Wakefield of Ineria was not seattd.
