Seeds

[edit]

When I bought a package of Cucurbita ficifolia seeds in Ecuador to eat as a snack, several people warned me that they would make you sick if not cooked before consumption. I can't find anything on the internet to substantiate this, but if it can be sourced it should be added to the article. Calliopejen1 (talk) 16:59, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Usually pumpkin seeds or kernels (from other species) are beeing slightly roasted to enhance the flavour, maybe that solves your problem.-- 178.112.200.169 (talk) 14:36, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese name is wrong

[edit]

The Wikipedia article mentions that in Japan it is known as "golden string melon" (Japan), written as kinshiuri, 金糸瓜 and 錦糸瓜. The color of Cucurbita ficifolia is not golden at all. This is incorrect, and if you google that Japanese name, you get these melons in which the Japanese Wikipedia article is ja:キンシウリ. --SQ15973 (talk) 11:15, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have now corrected it to its proper Japanese name. --SQ15973 (talk) 11:41, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Error in opening paragraph

[edit]

Currently, the second sentence of the first paragraph begins with "Although it is closely related to other squashes in its genus, such as the cucumber,..." The phrase "such as the cucumber" should be deleted, because the cucumber in is a completely different genus within the family Cucurbitaceae. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:301C:C4B0:8550:FC9F:7411:11B3 (talk) 03:02, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
